This absence of a relation was found not only across the full set of 150 protocols, but for relatively invasive research involving procedures such as electric shock, food or water deprivation, surgery, and drug or alcohol research for protocols involving euthanasia and for protocols in which the reviewing IACUC expected animals to experience a significant amount of pain.

The NIH Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare has been directed by law to develop policies that describe the role of Institutional Animal Care and Use Committees.

Video Clips Do You Really Care?

Thus, regardless of whether the research involved terminal or painful procedures, IACUC protocol reviews did not exceed chance levels of intercommittee agreement The Plous and Herzog work was criticized by some in the animal research community as drawing false conclusions because IACUCs rely on knowing the experience of the investigators and staff.

I have had my hands full with a nursery of kittens, because other people are irresponsible! This is an awareness vid. This is the REAL drama of life. The fact that people don’t care and the rest suffer for it!
I have no time for frivilous drama on Youtube, where people spend time ripping each other apart. I have more important things to contend with.

Spay and neutering is a priority. For all the stray animals that are left abandoned, it is of most importance, to keep the population of unwanted pets down and stop the needless suffering.

Your local SPCA or other animal organizations will sometimes offer discounts and assitance in spay and neutering or office visits.

It is a great idea to donate money, food and other supplies to the local shelters and other organizations of your choice,
if you are interested in helping out.

The Audit Report goes on at length regarding the failure of IACUCs to effectively review protocols and ensure compliance with federal Animal Welfare laws: Some IACUCs are not effectively monitoring animal care activities, protocols, or alternative research methods.

Baby squirrels can only have certain amount of milk because if he drinks too much he can possibly asphyxiate….but he wanted more :(

This is an orphaned male squirrel I raised since I found it as a “pinky”. In this video he is a little older. His name is “Twitchy”

He grew up to be a big boy squirrel and released back into the wild with the help of a wildlife rescue. :) I will always miss this one. I miss the times we chilled out in front of the tv and ate popcorn and nuts. He woke me up everymorning a 8 am to run. I ran on the treadmill, he ran on his custom oversized hamster wheel. And the times where he peaks through the curtains to see who’s at the door. He was by far the coolest pet I have ever taken care of.

I miss him dearly. :( I wish I could have kept him, but it would have been wrong.

However, one area of peer review that has not received much empirical investigation is the system that protects animal subjects from research risks.
